WCST - Tips and Info for WCST at Crestwood

Here are things you need to know for our away meet at Crestwood Pool (8740 Fox Lonas Rd NW) this TUESDAY 6/18:

    - It takes approx. 15 minutes to get to Crestwood Pool in Cedar Bluff - so please plan accordingly. If your swimmer needs a ride to the pool because of parents' work schedules, you can check the WCST Family Directory on our website under the Resources tab to make arrangements with other parents.

    - Crestwood tries to leave visiting team parking spaces in their lot, but after the lot is full, please park in the grass behind the pool. There will be signs directing traffic - please do not block access to the grassy area for other cars. Do not park on the street surrounding the pool. Cars may stop to unload at the gate on the way to the “field” behind the tennis courts.

    - Our team area is in the grassy area between lane 1 and the tennis courts. Please keep the concrete deck along pool clear for coaches, officials, and workers.

    - Meet schedule:

    • 5:15pm Warmups for Swimmers - kids need to be at the pool at 5:15pm dressed and ready to swim for warmups at 5:30pm.
    • 5:15pm Meet Worker Sign-in - report to Melody Luhn in our team area
    • 5:45pm Worker's meeting - Referee & Meet Director will give short instructions for all positions
    • 6:00pm Meet begins - let's swim!!
    • 7pm - 7:30pm 2nd shift Meet Workers will be called to report before event 35 to relieve 1st shift workers
    • Team Dinner immediately following meet at Pero's on the Hill, 7706 Northshore Dr

    - Bring water bottles, towel, swimsuit, goggles, sharpies, money, sunscreen, bug spray, dry clothes. Optional items - camping chairs, small tents, blankets, small coolers. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the pool area during all GKAISA meets.

    - Swimmers will be assigned events based on what the team needs to score points - but the coaching staff does their best to let kids swim what they want to swim. :)

    - Please do not leave the swim meet without checking in first with the Head Coach - your swimmer may be needed on relays or to fill in for another swimmer.

-Rain/Thunderstorms are in the forecast - but swim meets still run in the rain - so bring your rain gear. Of course, safety is our first concern, but we do our best to complete each meet. Our swimmers train everyday and we want to give every swimmer the chance to swim all their events at a meet. See the WCST Weather Policy posted below...

    - The list of swimmers' events will be posted in our team area. Parents can also download and print a Heat Sheet from the Meets & Events section of the website on the afternoon of the meet.

    - Meet concessions will be hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, sodas, gatorade, water, homemade cookies, puppy chow, and snow cones

    - After Meet Pizza Party at Pero's - Unlimited pizza buffet plus spaghetti, salad, and sodas or tea. Adult beverages available - but at an additional cost.

    - Not all GKAISA teams give out Heat Winner Ribbons - so please prepare your 10&unders that they might not get a ribbon for heat wins at away meets. First Heat Place Ribbons (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) will be given out at practice on Wednesday morning and are placed in a folder with your last name.

    - Consult the WCST website's FAQ page for more great info!

See you at the Crestwood pool! GO CROCS!!

    WCST Weather Pollicy

WCST Swim Practices and Meets continue as scheduled in rainy weather - so please prepare your swimmer - and always bring rain gear to meets when rain is in the forecast.

In case of thunderstorms, the pool will be cleared for 30 minutes at the first clap of thunder - for the safety of all swimmers and coaches. The coaches will decide whether to continue the practice or meet based on time remaining and weather forecast. Please be prepared to pick up your swimmer early from practice or have a carpool plan in stormy weather.

Meets that are stopped due to stormy weather before event 40 - and unable to resume - will be rescheduled. After event 40, meets may be rescheduled or considered a complete meet - the coaches of both teams will meet and make the call.
